MISHIBINIJIMA BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION:
Many asked for artist biography, just follow older posts bottom of this page.

MISHMOUNTAINS ORIGINALS:
I had the chance buying one Mishmountain original during the mid 1980's and regretted for not buying that.
Ever since, all I see and remember is that mountain piece on the piece I bought and wish you can help me.
Smudge ceremony rids that hurt feeling.
When you see "CLOSED" signage at Mishibinijima Private Art Gallery, private viewing audience in progress.

STRENGTH NATIVE SYMBOL:
This question is the most asked question from people going through life's turbulence in my 48 years as an artist.
First, a person must cleanse his or hers mind body and spirit using the sacred smudge then ask the great spirit a request with tobacco holding in your clenched left hand then ask "what you need to change" by speaking directly into tobacco before burying it.
Speak from the heart and believe in your request.
Everyone of us is a power symbol for our own destiny and hope this helps you.
One on one dialogue and ceremonies only happen with Mishmountain clientele.

MISHMOUNTAIN SYMBOLISM

Title: SACRED CIRCLE or the FOURS RACES OF MANKIND.
Legend Statement: The day when mankind looks upon another human being as equal, his mind will awake his consciousnesses towards living in harmony. These four colors also represent the moment were born in innocence. As that human being grows older each day, the color moves into greater understanding towards it's destiny. A time will come during his golden years when his frail body reflects his birth as people around him help in caring just like the way people stood around his baby crib a few days after his birth.
The magnetism between the birth state and golden years is so close, this is where a woman needs to push out the spirit just like the way he was push out from the mother womb.
Title: TREE OF LIFE
Legend Statement: The"tree of life" offers great understanding moving forward in our human journeys. Every now and then, our spiritual "will" tested where the feeling of failure sets into our minds. It's good to have reminders to make us think in where we were at the same time, it's good to have reminders of good times as well.
One needs to look upon the Tree of Life with a source of gaining understanding and removing the grey lights that cloaked over you. Bring sacred items into your life that only you understands, look upon this tree and recognize, I only tried one branch and think it's time to start another.
You will not fall all they way to the ground, you just fell one branch below and know how to stand with strength to regain what you had. ( simple truth and don't make it complicated, you just confuse yourself).
Title: SACRED FOOT STEPS
Legend Statement: Sacred foot steps are the steps we make each day, we all walk that straight and narrow path of righteous that bring good energy or good spirits around you.
One needs to make sure how to use the sacred smudge and it's properties, this ceremony will bring light and protection into your sacred circle and the people connected to it.
When this wisdom practiced properly, you'll see immediate changes when acquaintances approach  you without saying a word, that's because these people had another agenda against you and the sacred smudge did it's work.
Title: NIMKI- THUNDER SPIRITS
Legend Statement: "Elder SAM" use to comment, many spiritual items lay in quiet all around us each day. These items traveled great distant heavens for a purpose and old needs to understand that reason, "why did it come here and why am I here.".
Sam was a mentor of spiritual and natural medicines to everyone willing to listen, once SAM entered the spirit world, all that knowledge had gone with him too.
One afternoon, he spoke about the spiritual properties that a lightening strike can do and one needs to be very careful to gather this fine glass for his medicine bag.
It will have spiritual purpose using the sacred smudge to awaken it.
Title: SKIN OF MOTHER EARTH and THE SPIRIT OF THE SWEET GRASS
Legend Statement: Ojibwe pictographs is a language of great importance in the voice of my ancestors that took the time to document these writings with purpose towards mankind's survival.
Sweet grass and the skin of mother earth works hand in hand with balance, one needs the other to survive as all living matter around us, take one source away will have conflict and friction towards mankind and take millions of years to replace it. It's all living matter in another form.
Title: DAYS or THE CALENDAR
Legend Statement: Illustrating a new pictograph language in 1969 offered Mishibinijima a gate way art collectors to understand the Mishmountain art style.
With careful guidance with mentor and medicine man, Sam offered teachings towards the unspoken language of the Ojibwe people.
Sam expressed a calendar from the ancient pictograph for example, a dot will represent a day or dots connected with a line will expressed how long the journey took or how long people stayed in one location.
I in turn included lines on both sides representing the " SKIN OF MOTHER EARTH" as shown on other Mishibinijima's pictographs, this will allow studies of formations in yesterday's pictograph creation , this is how the foundations of the Mishibinijima pictographs were born.
Title: SKIN OF MOTHER EARTH
Legend Statement: Ancient pictograph had three small lines connected in the middle that represented the skin of Mother Earth. I wanted to add expression and substance by adding
" Seven or Four" lines to represent: Four Sacred Directions or the "Seven Ceremonial Directions".
Title: SKIN OF MOTHER EARTH with BALANCE
Legend Statement: The study of this Mishmountain pictographs comes in three phases, 1. Skin of Mother Earth where lines meet in width. 2. Watchful eyes watching over Skin of Mother Earth, 3. Natural balance that enters nature itself or the black thunder of balance.

Title: BLACK THUNDER or THE POWER OF SELF BALANCE
Legend Statement: I think the most important and powerful mishmountain pictograph is the symbol of "Black Thunder" or "Balance" in man's limitation of capability. If he's not reminded every now and then, destruction follows his creations and thought.
Title: EYE OF THE GREAT SPIRIT AND BEYOND
Legend Statement: Super natural forces linger around unsuspecting people each day, proper protocols are followed for spiritual communication through the sacred smudge that helps you close the spirit doors when your done.
Title: THE SACRED SMUDGE OR CEREMONY
Legend Statement: Sacred Smudge pictograph is the foundation symbolizing spiritual cleansing of mind, body and spirit. It will also cleanse personal surroundings from lingering spirits that venture into our world and most important, one needs to study the sacred properties for each plant.
Title: THE GREAT SPIRIT OR SPIRIT WITHIN
Legend Statement: This would be the most recognizable pictograph for any tribe of the world, still today, flags of the world have government seals that has a bird some kind representing there country, this ancient pictograph shown above is the the illustration of "Chi-Manitou", when said into the English language becomes "Thunderbird" which is quite silly. One needs to know, when they first encountered beings from another world, the sound of thunder was deafening when their bird shaped crafts entered our atmosphere. What these beings that came from the Orions Belt constellation thought creation.
Title: WAUB NUK ZEE or THE TREE MARKER FOR SAFE PASSAGE
Legend Statement: Parts of North America especially around the Great Lakes were filled with  tree markers for anyone looking for a safe passage for it's destination. Certain area's in the Great Lakes are filled with narrow passages where a traveler unsafe to cross on a windy day, In turn we a offer wisdom to these tree marker warnings to anyone will to listen, "take this route for your future, it's safe."
Title: SACRED LODGE OR SACRED HOME
Legend Statement: The home is the most sacred place we own, what we bring into a dwelling lingers on such as negative spirit which transforms to everything or everyone inside it, the inner spirit very vulnerable to these outside forces only the sacred smudge will ward off these forces. The  sacred smudge holds thirteen properties and each has a protocol of purpose.
Title: HANDS OF THE GREAT SPIRIT
Title: EYE OF THE GREAT SPIRIT OR THE INNER SPIRIT WITHIN YOU
Ledend Statement: I once confronted a medicine in my reserve in the summer of 1969 asking him, I like to draw these sacred pictograph symbols as a teaching tool which he replied, these writings needs respect before doing anything like that but to be fair, you can use the same teaching and create a symbol that represents that teaching which I thought was very fair.
I started creating two or three symbols I use regularly a year then moved on from there until a mishmountains art style selection was made through out forty-five years of being an artist.
I noticed through out the years, artist have copied Mishibinijima symbols for their own artist expressions or being a Native Art Teacher during the early 70's have paved the symbol branding in their minds.
These symbols are the road map understanding Mishmountains  art style which didn't take over night, this art style took decades to strive for perfection to what it is today.

OJIBWE PICTOGRAPHS: Pictographs listed below were gathered through a pictograph document map from Southern Ontario. To understand the ancient pictograph, one needs to set his or her mind in balance. When I traveled Europe three or four times a year over twelve years, I encourage people to speak their language and the mind set felt, this language is very old English language dialect where understanding the people set in.

I will explain each of these pictograph listed below once Mishmountain web site blog becomes private viewing only, I think this is the best move protecting my images and the interests of Mishibinijima Art collectors. All other website blogs will be deleted in a few days.: MISHIBINIJIMA

HISTORIC PICTOGRAPHS
Pictograph -1 - I was surprised coming across this particular pictograph and what it represents and what for was it documented.
My forefathers and medicine men knew how delicate a human body is, if a human body is not taken care of, it will become frail and sick to anyone that comes in contact with it.
My forefathers took the time to document a female body through a pictograph, where and how it's drawn and situated, the drew this five foot pictograph where a freshwater stream can  flow through the middle which represents, mankind needs to offer woman protection, the water it hold a human fetus during birth needs to be pure at it's finest, once that birth water becomes sick, mankind that comes forth along that channel will carry sickness for future generations to come as it's past on.
Pictograph - 2 - This ancient document explain s the origin of "CREATION". Universal beings that came from the universe created people on Mother Earth through the gateway of the Orien's Belt, Creators thought scared teachings how to live in harmony, they left behind teachings of medicine use, spiritual communication through great distances through the universe and symbols that reminds people events of destruction. The arrow head symbol represents the elders and finding four will allow you completeness  but most important, the head dress symbol that represents man that he'll invade three times and the third will tell him to retreat towards his own beginning because venturing any further, that trek will destroy him. I use this symbol many times in my mishmountain paintings representing, mankind just needs to open it's eyes and see the nature and be a part of it to survive.
Pictograph - 3 - Watchful Spirits , numbered days and grandfathers stand each side of " balance" we each strive each day.
Pictograph - 4 - Becoming one with thought, the art of love making begins in respect towards one another.
